Sayontan

A person is professionally always able to wriggle out a few free hours. Not being disposed towards a partying lifestyle or even an overly social one, I am pressed to find ways to keep myself occupied beyond the keyboard.

Internet surfing as a pastime follows as a corollary of my profession. Additionally I read a lot of books. I like reading science fiction, fantasy, mysteries, adventure stories, biographies, philosophy, mythology and of course, comics. Here are things I like:

Cartoons and comics
Harry Potter and related Fan Fiction (BTW, I hate "Lord of the Rings")
Project Gutenberg
The Mahabharat, which, I believe, is the best work of literature ever written.
Short stories, particularly those with a twist - O'Henry, Saki and Roald Dahl
Random stuff - Dan Brown, Isaac Asimov, Neal Stephenson, Alistair MacLean, Agatha Christie, Richard Feynmann, Satyajit Ray ... the list goes on.

Not long back I used to dabble in creative writing too.

The Attempts of a Dilettante

Not long ago I used to write. I have written loads of stuff - some short stories, some poems and some character-based articles (part fact, part fiction). Here is some of my work for public perusal. Please feel free to redistribute if you find fit. Only let me know when you do so.

You will find some more articles at http://www.btech96.org, our batch website. Of course, you will have to dig around a bit. Vaibhav and I formed a lethal writing team called SBI in IIT, which wrote some pretty interesting things during its heydey. We thought we were lethal, which is all that matters, anyway!
For our batch's farewell party I created a couple of Powerpoint presentations:
- "Was It Not yesterday?", based on a poem by Kunal Talwar
- The Awards Nite - a recognition of the claims to fame of various talented personalities of our batch.
